Weingarten Speech on Education & Economy, Nov. 17

AFT president Randi Weingarten will deliver a speech on Nov. 17 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., titled "After the Election: Making the Right Choices for Education and the Economy." New York mayor Michael Bloomberg will introduce Weingarten. She will discuss the direction needed for public education and the impact of the economy on public services, especially in light of the Nov. 4 election results.

Invitations to the event have been sent to media, congressional leaders and staff, educational leaders, labor leaders and others. There has been a lot of interest in the event, so a full house is expected at the Press Club. Following Weingarten's speech, the full transcript and video highlights will be available online.
